Description

Mom's frosting recipe uses a roux as a base.

Ingredients

3 T
white flour
1 c
whole milk
1⁄2 c
vegetable shortening
1⁄2 c
butter (softened)
1 c
Sugar
1 t
vanilla

Instructions

  1. Cook milk and flour until very thick.
  2. Cover and refrigerate until cold.
  3. Using an electric mixer, cream shortening, butter and sugar until well creamed.
  4. Add vanilla and chilled flour/milk mixture.
  5. Beat until light and fluffy.
