Heather's Buttercream Icing

Heather's buttercream icing is essentially a crusting buttercream recipe. Crusting buttercream gets a hard surface after about 10 -15 minutes which allows you to use the paper towel method to smooth the surface of the icing.
- Cream butter and margarine (or shortening) together until smooth.
- Add in vanilla and flavoring.
- With mixer on low setting, add in icing sugar, meringue powder, and then add in milk until desired consistency (you may want to add more icing sugar depending).
And voila! A delicious icing perfect for filling, decorating and icing cake!
*If you don't have meringue powder, it will still turn out great...it just won't crust over at all.
