Hello!

This is a vanilla almond cake with vanilla almond buttercream. The bottom tier is covered on white fondant and decorated to show the graduates professions. The id badges with their photos are made using icing sugar sheet. The top tier is covered with black fondant to look like a graduation cap. I used a square cake board for the top of the cap and for the tassel, I used yellow fondant with the extruder and airbrushed it with gold color. The cake drum is divided to represent the two universities of the graduates and decorated with the logos of each university and the graduate's names. I hope you like it and thanks for watching!

I meant to enter a graduation cake and posted on the wrong spot. My apologies!

Is there a problem with the voting? Unless I am missing something, there doesn't seem to be a way to cast a vote in the graduation cake contest.

You need to be logged in. Then you simply click on the number of stars beneath the cake.

So only people who have an account may vote?

Ghasan887's picture

I'm trying to vote. I'm logged in.

Perhaps I'm the only one but I find it kind of sad that some people are giving cakes that are beautifully done a one star. Although I have two cakes entered, I have no problem with voting & giving high rates to cakes based on the design and the execution. There are much better cakes than mine that deserve the 4 & 5 stars.

KathyY's picture

I agree, the cakes that have the highest ratings are definitely not the most well done. When money prizes are offered there is always some cheating on the voting. I think that only people who have uploaded cake photos should be allowed to vote to eliminate people creating fake accounts just to vote.

Terri's picture

Between my two websites, I have been running cake contests for 8 years and have encountered every kind of cheating and unfairness issue. I make no apologizes for saying that if I think the voting outcome is unfair in any contest, the outcome will be overlooked and all cakes entered will be judged by the particular judge(s) evaluating that specific contest. I hope this puts everyone's concerns to rest. I allow member participation because I'd like to think most people will choose to do the right thing and I believe members like to have an input.

Thank you Terri! I'm glad to know that you recognize the problems. Love your site. All the best to you!

gopa's picture

I know this happens no matter what you try to do Terri.. My comment was not directed towards you or the site in any way. Hope you didn't take as a criticism because that was not my intent. It was directed towards the person doing it. Just seemed so unfair that some really lovely cakes were getting a 1 star. I gave them all 5 stars to offset it. Figured it was the least I could do.

Just signed up and really like the site

I agree with GOPA 100% and thank you, Terri, for recognizing and offsetting the problem. It is so easy to see where someone with malice in her (or his) heart gives a lowball score to a wonderful design in the hopes of receiving a higher rating on their own entry...really sad, actually.
