Teapot cakes are great for Mother's Day or as part of a tea party theme cake. Here are a few ideas you can try.
The Mad Hatter's Tea Party Cake
Because I really wanted to take my time on this cake, I used cut styrofoam for the cake, All other decorations are fondant and gum paste, most hand painted. The only non edible item is the chain on the pocket watch. Its my very first topsy turvy cake, and I will absolutely be making more in the future!

Topsy Turvy Tea Party Cake
This topsy turvy tea party cake is a chocolate cake with ganache filling and marshmallow fondant covering. The tea pot and tea cups are made of RKT covered in MMF and then piped with royal icing and painted accents in gold. The cake stood about 2 1/2 feet tall and was very heavy.

I used a large glass baking bowl with one and a half boxes of cake mix for the top half and the bottom half. I put my family's favorite dulce de leche in between them. I covered the cake with yellow frosting, then made flowers and butterflies out of gum paste. The handle and the spout were made out of fondant, and placed in the cake with wooden like tooth picks but bigger.
