Polka Dot Cakes

Polka dot cakes are great for any occasion, especially if the birthday cake recipient has no idea what he or she wants. They can be brought into any theme cake, including weddings, as featured in this first cake.

Polka Dot Wedding Cake

polka dot wedding cakeI have to say this is one of my all time favorite wedding cakes I've done. It was for my cousin's wedding reception, which had a fun, festive atmosphere with lots of candy and bright colors. We designed the cake to match her color scheme and go along with the candy feel. It has two shades of pink and also lime green polka dots in varying sizes on the sides of each tier. The real gerbera daisy flower topper set things off perfectly.

Polka Dot Birthday Cake

polka dot birthday cakeI made a buttermilk cake with buttercream frosting. Using food coloring and some of the buttercream frosting I created polka dots all over this cute birthday cake. I used the end of a turkey baster to make impressions of circles on the side of the cake before I filled each one individually with different colored frosting. I wrote Happy Birthday on top of the cake with the same frosting used for the polka dots.

Tiered Polka Dot Cake

tiered polka dot cakeI made 3 different cakes in all different sizes. I made the traditional fondant,  spread it out and cut different size circles. Then I laid down the fondant onto each of the cakes and put the different size circles everywhere on the cakes.

Round Polka Dot Cake

round polka dot cakeThis cake was made with white cake. It was two layers with butter cream icing in between and under the home made marshmallow fondant. We dyed the fondant and cut out the spots in neon colors for a very happy b-day cake.
