Holiday Cheese Platter Cake

I USED THREE DIFFERENT TYPES OF BAKING DISHES TO CREATE THIS CHEESE PLATE CAKE PLATTER. I USED A PAN OF MINI CHRISTMAS TREE MOLDS TO CREATE THE CLUSTER OF GRAPES. I ROLLED BALLS OF CAKE AND ADHERED IT TO THESE CAKES WITH FROSTING. I USED A ROUND CAKE PAN AND TWO CERAMIC BAKING DISHES TO CREATE THE OTHER TWO CAKES. I CUT A WEDGE OUT OF EACH CHEESE CAKE TO CREATE AN INSIDE APPEARANCE OF CHEESE. AFTER FROSTING THE CAKES I COVERED THEM IN FONDANT. ONE WAS A SMOOTH RED FONDANT. THE OTHER FONDANT HAD BEEN ROLLED OVER A BAG USED TO HOLD ORANGES. THIS GAVE IT A TEXTURED LOOK. THE FONDANT WAS CUT AND SMOOTHED TO FIT THE CAKES. THE FONDANTS FOR THE INSIDE WEDGES WERE IN TWO DIFFERENT SHADES, CUT, AND PRESSED IN TO FIT. THE RED CHEESE CAKE WAS COATED IN A WATER AND PIPING GEL MIXTURE FOR A WAX GLOSS. THE BLACK CHEESE CAKE WAS RUBBED WITH SHORTENING AND DABBED WITH CONFECTIONER'S SUGAR FOR A MORE ROUGH WAXY AND TEXTURED APPEARANCE. THE GRAPE CLUSTER WAS PAINTED WITH THE GLOSSY MIXTURE. THE LEAVES AND VINES WERE PAINTED WITH A BLUISH/BLACK WATERY GLOSS MIXTURE SO THAT THE COLOR WOULD APPEAR GREENISH/BLUE AND WOULD REST IN THE DETAILS OF THE VINES AND LEAVES. THE GLOSS MIXTURES ARE PART WATER AND PIPING GEL. THE UTENSILS ARE MADE OF FONDANT. TO CREATE THE WOODEN HANDLES I USED TWO DIFFERENT SHADES OF FONDANT, COMBINED THEM, AND SHAPED THEM. FOR THE APPEARANCE OF SILVER I PAINTED THEM WITH SILVER AND GOLD SHADES OF LUSTER DUST. I ADDED LUSTER TO EXTRACT TO CREATE A PAINT FOR THE APPEARANCE OF REAL UTENSILS. I USED A GUMPASTE TOOL TO HELP MOLD THE FONDANT INTO THE CAKE TO RESEMBLE GRAPES. I ALSO USED THIS TOOL TO CREATE A CLEAN APPEARANCE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CAKES BY TUCKING ANY ROUGH SPOTS IN TOWARDS THE CAKE.
